A Matter of Honour : Being the History of the 5th Victorian Contingent of the Boer War (1901-1902) with a brief biographical sketch of all who served in the unit

Book
Annotation. From the time that British General Stuart Beatson called the 5VMR "a fat-arsed, useless lot of wasters" and "white livered curs" it seems that the smear has been impossible to remove. This history needed to be written, the balance needed to be altered and the focus on the positive contributions of this unit needed to be emphasised. This was a unit that more than atoned for its setbacks and of which all Australians should be proud. 'A Matter of Honour' corrects what has become a false impression of an Australian unit that not only did the job it was raised to do but did it well.
