The third volume in an on-going series of publications compiled from the archives of the Victorian Public Record Office. This volume deals with the government's role in the first few years of settlement, beginning with Lonsdale's arrival in 1836. Official correspondence and records have been selected and transcribed within six broad areas: land sales, public works, convict labour, population, public health, and religion and education.
