A classic pictorial study of early Melbourne architecture. Brief notes accompany each photograph. More than half the buildings have been demolished between 1953 and 1975. Richmond sites include 5 Erin Street, 7 Erin Street, Richmond, 370 Church Street, and 393 Bridge Road. A chapter featuring North Melbourne (p.85) shows pictures of buildings in North and West Melbourne, most of which no longer exist.
