In 2020, the End SARS movement mobilised against police brutality in Nigeria, sparking protests around the nation. Their focus: the notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad, famed for their abuse of power and brutality. Following weeks of "#EndSARS" protests against police brutality that had burst onto the streets of cities across Nigeria, on the night of 20th October 2020 the Nigerian Army opened fire on peaceful protesters at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos State, Nigeria. It was all caught on instagram live. This is the story of those who were caught up in the fray, and shared the terror with the world as it happened.
