Kimpton and Sons which existed in Kensington until 1980. The mill still exists but is no longer connected with the original company. William Kimpton had origiannly been connected with Brockhoff the biscuit manufacturer, and supplied that company with flour unril it clsed its West Melbourne operations in 1953. There are many illustrations of the Kensington mills throughout the book. Of interest to Fitzroy, William Stephen Kimpton owned three bakeries in Fitzroy by 1864 and in 1870 he purchased a four-storey flour mill at 341 Brunswick St, Fitzroy: by 1886 this was one of the most productive in Victoria and formed the springboard for other Kimpton milling interests. Kimpton was involved with St Mark's Church for over 25 years. A thorough, interesting account written by an industrial chemist who was employed by Kimpton's for 37 years.Bibliography: p. 161.
