Summary

After buying a dilapidated old house in northern France on a whim, Janine Marsh and her husband Mark quickly fell in love with the small village and its quirky inhabitants, gave up their city jobs in London and fully embraced the good life in the rural Seven Valleys. Ten years on and still renovating their dream home, they have discovered that life in the French countryside is never dull. While a freezing February threatens the lives of some of the four-legged locals, a dramatic hailstorm in July destroys cars and houses, leading to a particularly raucous harvest-time party in September as the village gets back on its feet. This is a year in the life of this close-knit rural community as two eternally ambitious expats embrace a new way of living and stumble across the hidden gems in this very special part of the world.
