Arriving

Broome, Richard, 1948-1984
Book
Migration means more than a shift from one place to another. It is an awesome uprooting from one's birthplace, home and culture which requires difficult, even painful adjustments from old ways to new. Over the last 150 years, almost two million people have immigrated permanently to Victoria, where they populated and changed the land, and were in turn affected by it. Long before this, unknown numbers of Indigenous Australians also moved here. "Arriving" tells the story of the various waves of newcomers to Victoria and explains why and how they came, and what became of them once here.
