How often do you look at your phone? Can you even stop? Are you, too, suffering from digital overload? Director Jens Meurer''s latest film AN IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT sets out to show us alternative distractions, how to learn to trust our senses once more. All five of them, not just the digital two. In 2008, as we were all salivating over our first iPhone, and eccentric former biologist better known as Doc had an epiphany to save the world''s last Polaroid factory. At first, the venture failed spectacularly, but the Doc never gives up. What followed is the heart-warming and inspiring story of his trip into a worldwide community of believers devoted to the analogue dream, incl. calligraphers, vinyl aficionados and Moleskine bookbinders - taking him to one of the most unlikely analogue places of all - Silicon Valley. Rich in curiosity and Tati-esque humour, filmed in 35mm, and with a live score recorded direct-to-vinyl-disc, AN IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT celebrates the potential of real things, and serves as a timely reminder that not only are we all unique, but humans are the most analogue project of all.
