No Sex, No Violence, No News goes behind the scenes of the battle for control of China's airwaves. Following producers, distributors, satellite moguls, advertising executives and a widely respected observer of Chinese society, this film looks at how business is conducted in a bizarre world where official party propaganda merges with Hollywood and MTV. As the world is encircled by multiplying webs of electronic signals, this program explores the agendas of those who control the new information technologies. In their frenzy to reach China's rapidly growing consumer market, self-censorship is increasingly the key to success. The result is a program which not only explores the impact of the global TV revolution on today's China, but also offers fascinating and often humorous insights into contemporary Chinese society and values, whilst holding up a confronting mirror to our own. A Film Australia National Interest Program. Produced with the assistance of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Executive Producer: Sharon Connolly Producer: Susan Lambert, Stefan Moore Director: Susan Lambert, Stefan Moore Writer: Susan Lambert, Stefan Moore Narrator/Presenter: Katrina Foster.
