Kill for Collingwood
Stremski, Richard1986
Book
Billed as a "warts and all" history of the Collingwood Football Club, this work goes far beyond the statistical summaries that often pass for club histories. The development of the club is discussed chronologically in significant blocks, reflecting, for example, the influence of particular club presidents or of world events such as war and economic depression. An appendix lists all senior players, 1897-1984. The first chapter discusses the socio-economic factors which have molded the municipality's defensive self image which underlies the fierce club loyalties so distinctive of Collingwood.
