Wrongly imprisoned for a crime he did not commit, the young sailor Edmond Dantès escapes from prison and discovers a hidden treasure on the island of Monte Cristo. Assuming the identity of the Count of Monte Cristo, he sets out to reward those who helped him and seek revenge on those who betrayed him.
